MacDowell Male Chorus welcomes Herb Berendsen as our new conductor!

Herb has spent the last 25 years teaching and directing choral music.  He is currently the choral director at Oshkosh West High School, a position he has held for the last 13 years.  Prior to this, he was the choral director at Ripon High School.  His experience is substantial.  Along with his day job, he has also served as worship coordinator for his church, directed the Winnebagoland Barbership Chorus, is an active accompanist, choral clinician, and a private voice instructor.  His musical journey began with our very own Marlene Butler, who was his piano instructor in his youth.   He is a father of three, his son was a recipient in our scholarship competition this spring.

We are proud to note that MacDowell has had only four other conductors in our 77 year history!  We are excited to have Herb as our fifth leading us in song!

And who are our performers?

We come from the Fox Cities of Wisconsin; from Green Bay in the north and Oshkosh in the south, and all towns, cities and villages between. Eagle River even claims one of our own as resident! We come from all walks of life and we all have one thing in particular in common.............

                                              WE LOVE TO SING!

For 75 years Macdowell has spent Monday nights from September to May rehearsing, with a short break at Christmas. All this, and more, leads up to our annual "home" concerts entertaining our Fox Cities neighbors with show tunes, patriotic tunes, religious tunes, patriotic tunes and fun tunes!
